Ann interviews British author and Madrid resident Giles Tremlett whose book Ghosts of Spain focuses on key aspects of Spain through its history such as flamenco, Basque nationalism and tourism. Giles was inspired to write the book when mass graves appeared which broke the Pacto de Olvido, the pact of forgetting – the silence that surrounds the Spanish Civil War. But before taking a look at the book, let’s find out more about Giles. He’s lived and worked in Spain for many years. So what’s made him stay so long?
